Head of Care

West Sussex. Competitive Salary based on experience and qualifications

Full Time - Permanent

Farney Close is a mixed independent residential school for children aged 9 to 19, who are experiencing social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The school also supports pupils who experience Asperger’s or Tourette’s syndrome, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Dyslexia and Moderate Speech and Language Difficulties.

Owing to the recent promotion of the current post holder, we are looking for an experienced and inspirational Head of Care to lead a dedicated team of around 30 Residential Care staff. The successful candidate will provide strong, operational leadership to ensure our young people live in a safe and happy environment whilst developing their life skills and independence. As a key member of the Senior Management Team you will contribute to the development and implementation of our strategic vision, while driving forward continuous improvement in this caring residential provision.

The School is a very positive environment where the emphasis is on encouraging all aspects of pupil development, support and growth throughout the waking day; therefore the successful candidate must display a knowledge of what is required in this rewarding role. S/he should possess a relevant qualification, have effective written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to collaborative team working. This post will require some evening work and anti-social working hours during term time and some commitment during school holidays. However, the post offers a generous family friendly holiday allowance.

Farney Close is near the village of Bolney, being 36 miles south of London, 11 miles north of Brighton and just 30 miles from Chichester. It is set in 36 acres of beautiful countryside close to an excellent road network.

Farney Close is an equal opportunities employer and is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be able to provide evidence of having the right to live and work in the UK and will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.   No agencies please.

The closing date for applications is 1st April 2019; shortlisting by 5th April and interviews will be on 24th and 25th April.
