Parent & Carer Letter – Jan 2023

Dear parent/carer

I am writing, not only to wish you a very happy new year, but to also bring you up to
date with some recent events.

Firstly, thank you to all of you that attended our Christmas Carol service. It was so lovely to get to meet many of you and put a face to a name. It was wonderful to be able to have so many visitors back on our site after being restricted, due to Covid expectations, for so long. I hope that you enjoyed the “service” as much as I did. Term has started well despite it being slightly wet and cold. Year 11s have their mocks this week and Year 10s next week.

We have now also received our Ofsted Social Care report which can be found on the website. We are obviously very pleased with both our Ofsted reports and will continue to strive towards getting Outstanding in all areas.

We have also decided to trial having our main meals at lunchtime rather than of an evening. This means that all our day pupils benefit from a main meal at school, as do our whole staff team and of course our residential pupils. Those that are residential now have tea on their houses which is far less institutionalised, more relaxed and offers far more flexibility with regards to when this meal is eaten.

It is also deemed to be far healthier to eat a main meal at lunchtime keeping your metabolism running at its best level and ensuring you are using all the energy from the food you consume. Rest assured that tea and supper are still provided for our residential pupils with a choice of a variety of sandwiches, pasta dishes and baked potatoes. They chose each morning what they would like from the options available that day.

With regards to forward planning, the dates for the academic year 2023 to 2024 are now on our website. We will be closed for May Day Bank Holiday and for the King’s Coronation Bank Holiday. On Friday 5th May we are hoping to plan a morning of Coronation celebration, which you will be invited to. Details will follow closer to the time. We will also be holding a parents and carers consultation afternoon or evening this term, which is also likely to be in person rather than via Zoom but we will confirm at a later date.

Should you wish to discuss any of these points with me, or any other subjects, please do not hesitate to drop me an email with your thoughts at sara.hack@farneyclose.co.uk

Kind regards,
Sara Hack
Principal
