Farney Close is a mixed independent residential special school for children aged 9 -18 who are in receipt of an (EHCP) because they experience a range of special needs including social, emotional and mental health needs.
Situated on the A272 and the A23 intersection at Bolney, West Sussex, the school has an established and very successful reputation, achieving numerous outstanding and good Ofsted inspection judgements for both the educational and care provisions over the last decade.
We are looking to recruit two Teaching Assistants, one on a one-year fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave, and one on a full time, permanent contract. Your role will focus on providing support in the classroom to both the Teacher and the pupils.
We have a maximum of 8 pupils per class. In the main you will work with the same class throughout the day. You will support children’s use of basic language skills, help them in developing vocabulary in all areas and provide guidance to enable them to access the curriculum and encourage them to ask questions, all of which will help support them with their learning. Beyond this you will support children in self-regulating and helping them find strategies to manage their behaviour whilst also encourage children’s independence and the development of self-help skills.
