Farney Close is a mixed independent special school for residential and day pupils aged 9 -18 who are in receipt of an EHCP because they experience a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The school does however also support pupils who experience Asperger or Tourette’s Syndrome, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Dyslexia, Moderate Speech and Language Difficulties, Communication and Language Difficulties, or difficulties with Sensory Regulation.

Situated on the A272 and the A23 intersection at Bolney, West Sussex, the school has an established and very successful reputation, achieving numerous outstanding and good Ofsted inspection judgements for educational and care provisions over the last decade.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding, inclusive practitioner with recent experience of teaching Key Stage 3 or 4 including planning, delivering and assessing bespoke creative teaching programmes within the expectations of the National Curriculum.

Responsible to the Head of Education, the Maths Teacher will have responsibility for devising and teaching the curriculum and assessing and reporting pupil progress.  They will have experience of safeguarding systems; high expectations of their pupils and a proven ability to use positive behaviour management strategies effectively to support pupils with challenging behaviour.

Knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEMH, ASC, SpLD, MLD and Trauma and Attachment are desirable and a specialist teaching qualification at level 5 or above would be an advantage.

Primary Teacher (Full Time)

You will have responsibility for the teaching and learning of pupils in Key Stage 2, ensuring that all young people make at least good progress through exciting, engaging and challenging teaching.

This post is for a SEN Teacher responsible for the teaching of students with Social, Emotional and Mental health needs (SEMH), Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs and other complex needs, within the school’s Primary Unit. All pupils that attend Farney Close School have an Education Health and Care Plan.

You will lead a classroom and be committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment where everyone (pupils and staff), are valued and encouraged to reach their full potential and aspirations. Maintenance Technician

40 Hours per week, 8am to 4.30pm, Mon- Fri (half hour unpaid break)

Salary: Up to £30,110.00 pa (25 days holiday + public holidays)

The main purpose of the job is to carry out all general day to day maintenance within the school. With support from within the team the Maintenance Technician will implement work schedules, carrying out work themselves where they can. The Maintenance Technician will deliver a high level of service, comfort and safety for all staff and young people at the school. Along with the Maintenance Team it will be the Maintenance Technician’s joint responsibility to ensure that all equipment and facilities are fully functioning, and that supply maintenance reports and updates will be provided to the Estate Manager on a regular basis.

Youth Worker

Starting Salary: from £22,369.00 p.a. dependent on experience and qualifications.

Sleeping in Allowance: £39.24 per sleep in.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, term time only to include 3 evenings until 11pm (excluding Friday) and 4 mornings.

We are expanding our school and looking for youth workers who will:

  • be enthusiastic, committed and motivated to work as part of a dedicated team.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Working and supporting children and young people to create positive outcomes and promote independence.
  • Direct practical interactions with children and young people including activities, cooking and engaging with the wider community.
  • Planning and coordination of activities.
  • Working to a high standard in line with OFSTED inspection framework requirements.
  • Engage in planning, implementation and delivery of care plans.

Deputy Catering Manager

Mon-Thr 8am-4.30pm (half hour unpaid break) and Fri 8.30-1.30 (no break)

Salary: Up to £23,194.00, dependant on experience and skills

Brief Description of Job:

The catering service within Farney Close School provides all catering requirements such as meals, buffets and meeting refreshments.

Purpose of the job:

  • To prepare and cook meals during the school day and serve the evening meal when on duty.
  • To serve refreshments at meetings as required.
  • To ensure compliance with correct Food Hygiene Legislation, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are maintained.
  • To take food temperatures and record them on temperature chart.
  • To deputise for the Catering Manager, undertaking tasks as outlined below
  • To check in any deliveries and sign for them, if required
  • Assist in the maintenance of stock records.
  • Co-operate fully with statutory inspections and implement recommendations, as directed by the Catering Manager
  • At the end of each shift, ensure that the staff leave the kitchen clean and tidy.
  • To undertake other such duties as directed, appropriate to the grade, responsibility and qualifications of the post.

Part Time Evening Cleaner

Flexi hours available (part/full time, term time or all year round)

Salary: £10.62 per hour

20 hours per week Monday to Friday

Term-Time Contract plus up to 10 days during school holidays

We are looking to recruit an evening cleaner to our current team. You will be predominantly working term time. However, we will require additional cleaning support during the school holiday periods for up to 10 working days, when hours of work will be more flexible. During the school holiday periods the cleaning team undertakes deep cleaning tasks including carpet cleaning etc when heavy duty cleaning machinery is used.

In the Afternoon/Evening Role, the Cleaner will be required to provide cleaning support to a combination of the classrooms and the main office building.

Experience of working in a similar school/office environment would be highly advantageous although full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will have a good eye for detail, be methodical and take pride in their work. This is a physical role and therefore candidates will require good stamina and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Part Time Administration Assistant

We are looking to recruit a part time administration assistant on a 1-year fixed term maternity cover contract. Within this role you will be responsible for ensuring the annual review process runs smoothly. This includes copy typing pupil report documentation, scheduling online and face to face meetings with families and external support services, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is prepared for annual review meetings. You will have an excellent eye for detail, touch typing skills, be methodical, organised and take pride in your work. Within this role you will also be covering reception break time so professional customer service skills are also a requirement of the job.

Experience of working in a similar school/office environment would be highly advantageous although full training will be provided.
