Dear Parents and Carers,
Let me start by saying that I hope you all had a wonderful Summer. It was so lovely to greet the children into school this morning. All were happy, looked well and seemed pleased to be back.
Following on from my newsletter, I want to provide more detail about the situation we find ourselves in regarding our site.
We still have a few repairs outstanding from the lightning strike, but they should all be resolved within the next week.
A survey of the school buildings has revealed that we require significant work to the main house. Whilst it remains safe to be inside, there is a risk of falling debris from the parapets and chimneys above which require substantial repair work. Fencing has been erected around the areas of concern to prevent any risk to staff, pupils and visitors and we have a walkway through to the main front door. A small number of rooms inside the main building have been closed off as a further precaution. Our Project Manager is working hard obtaining quotes but realistically, it is likely that the work will not start until the Spring of 2022. We hope all repairs will be completed by September 2022 and our main building will look fantastic.
Rest assured it is very much business as usual with a few changes having been put in place which the children and young people have responded well to i.e. no breaktimes at the front of the school, no afternoon breaks and different ways of getting in and out of the main building.
Should anyone have any concerns or wish to discuss this in more detail please do not hesitate to come back to me.
