Dear Parent/Carer
I hope this letter finds you well.
With the Spring (Easter) break fast approaching, I thought I should write and provide an update to you on matters as detailed below.
Illness
Last half term we suffered with numerous staff absences, in all departments, due to having Covid. Obviously, I do not want to encourage children to not attend school but I would ask that if your child is ill, particularly with Covid like symptoms, please do not send them in. Thank you.
World Book Day
This is on Thursday 2nd March. Staff and children are asked to dress as their favourite book character. Can you please encourage your child to take part and support them in gathering their outfit. Only appropriate characters will be accepted eg. no character with a war connection or any form of a fighting/aggressive nature. Thank you.
Reports and parents/carers consultation for our primary and secondary provision:
We are busy preparing reports for the end of term. As part of this we are looking to hold a parents/carers consultation at the end of this term. Details about when and timings to follow. This will include the opportunity for parents and carers of children in year 9 to hear about the options available for their child to study when they enter year 10.
Social Media
We continue to undertake work with all the children that attend our school, about the appropriate use of social media and how to keep themselves safe.
Please see some link below to support you in ensuring your child stays safe online.

Term dates:
Children will be leaving school after lunch on Friday 31st March to return from the Spring break on Tuesday 18th April. Please be aware that we also have bank holidays on Monday the 1st May, and then again on the 8th May, in recognition of the King’s Coronation. The school will be closed for both bank holidays with the children expected back into school on the Tuesday morning.
On Friday 5th May we are having our own Coronation celebrations which we will be inviting you to join us for. More details are to follow regarding the event and timings.
For those able to attend we would ask that you take your child home with you at the end of the event. If you are unable to attend your child with travel home by their normal means of transport.
The Whitsun half term break will see the children finish school on Friday 26th May and return on Monday 5th June. We were going to have an inset day on the 5th June but have cancelled this due to year 11’s needing to be in to sit their English GCSE. The school will therefore be open to all pupils.
Year 11’s:
Most of our year 11’s have their last exam on Friday 16th June which will also be their last day in school. Four pupils have an exam the following Tuesday (20th) so will need to attend school until then. We are happy for them to attend
school as usual until their last exam. Let me take this opportunity to wish our year 11’s the very best in their forthcoming exams.
For those of you with year 11 children you will receive a copy of their exam timetable.
Building and tree work:
If you have visited the school recently, or seen the pictures on our website, you will be aware that we are still in the process of having building work completed on our main house. We are hopefully that you might see the building in its completed state if you are able to visit on the 5th May for our Coronation celebrations.
The fencing is now complete, as is the works to our trees. Two of our lakes remain unusable but our middle lake is now able to be used for fishing.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
Yours faithfully
Sara Hack
Principal
